Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Warm the Milk: In a saucepan, warm the milk until it’s just slightly warm to the touch. Remove from heat and pour it into a large mixing bowl.
- Combine Ingredients: To the warm milk, add sugar, softened butter, salt, and lightly beaten eggs. Mix well.
- Add Yeast Mixture: Pour the activated yeast mixture into the bowl with the milk and other ingredients. Stir to combine.
- Add Flour: Begin adding flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. Continue adding flour until the dough comes together and starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment for this step.
- First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, turning once to coat. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 to 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down gently and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape each portion into a ball. Place the shaped rolls in a greased baking dish or on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between each roll.
- Second Rise: Cover the shaped rolls with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes or until they double in size.
- Preheat Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake: Once the rolls have risen, place them in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until they’re golden brown on top and cooked through.
- Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter for a shiny finish.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your soft and buttery yeast rolls with your favorite spreads or as a side to your meals!
